Last week!
Thank you for everyone who showed up this weekend! The sun was blazing and the shop was packed and we sold out of most of our ice cream by Saturday night. Don’t be discouraged from Sundays though! New changes are afoot (see below).
George Costanza was a certified hit and I feel quite redeemed after the salt-fiasco from its last go around. It was the fastest we’ve ever sold out of a chocolate flavor. And yet: Nothing sold out faster than Tinky Winky. The pokey flavors (what we call anything with honeycomb toffee) crush every single time and for good reason.
Shop updates: first, our tables and chairs keep breaking. I learned how to fix them (I feel so handy!), but there’s only so many times they can be repaired before they’re KIA. So we got new, sturdier ones! Tables come soon but the chairs are in and they’re looking CUTE—plus there’s a lot more of ‘em than before.
Second: a month or two ago we got a bad review on Yelp saying that our pints weren’t fresh. I know you know that’s impossible—but I assume it stems from our pint freezer leaving the pints so frosty? We’ve attempted to get it fixed 3x now to no avail. But a new freezer repair guy came in yesterday and is quite confident it’s fixed. Let’s all cross our fingers.
Speaking of Yelp! I ate at A16 last week and overheard the table next to us discussing where to go for ice cream after dinner. It took all my willpower to keep my mouth shut, but one look at Google Reviews and they obviously came to Bad Walter’s. So shameless plug: if you love what we’re doing, would you mind leaving a review on Yelp or Google? (And this goes for any small business you love.)
This week!
We’re increasing how many scoops we make in a week! Some of that will come from making a few less pints a week. This includes pausing our vanilla/chocolate pint production in lieu of more scoops. We’re also doing an ice cream flavor of the month. That way we can ease up on some of the rotation logistics and focus on cranking out more ice cream.
Most new pint flavors will start coming out on Saturdays/Sundays. That way there’s (hopefully) always something new and fun in the freezer no matter when you drop by.
We’ve got a new flavor on the menu this week. I’ve been sitting on this name for forever, waiting for the right moment and the most deserving flavor. The other two flavors are ones that people have been begging for all week, not knowing they were already on the schedule. And of course: May’s Flavor of the Month is officially Tinky Winky!
