Yay Mother's Day!
Last week!
If last week was an indicator of what’s to come, this summer is going to be HOT and BUSY! The Redfield x Bar Pie Guys x Bad Walter’s pop up was a major hit and seeing our little block so packed with so many familiar faces was such a joy. The team really held their own and we just eked by with enough scoops to sell out Sunday evening. Pints were mostly cleared out by Saturday night. We’re working on ways to make sure that Sundays aren’t a ghost town and are still worth coming in on—it might take a few weeks but a plan is in action!
Nolan (our production lead) was out of town for a couple of days but we hustled up the week before to get ahead in the schedule. So much of Nolan’s job is heavy, manual labor and I’m so glad he got to take a break. He’s been working at break-neck pace since August when he and I first started prepping for opening. It was such a relief for everyone see that as long as we plan for it, people taking time off won’t kill everyone else.
Less fun—one of our shelves collapsed on Friday. Thank god nobody was close enough to get hit with flying containers, but it was still freaky. Another thing to add to the list of shop upkeep for the week 🫠
This week!
Mother’s Day is this Sunday and don’t you forget it. To celebrate, we’ve got Golden Girls in scoops for first time! We lowered the sourness of the lemon for this one giving it a different feel than Sucker Punch—although the jam is sour instead so it has a really nice balance. We’ll also be releasing Breakfast in Bed on Saturday. This is a flavor I haven’t done since Mother’s Day 2021 when I was still in my house. Fun to finally be able to do it again!
We’ve got a new flavor this week—Tinky Winky (more below). And VIP, We’re bringing back George Costanza! We did this in the case very shortly after we opened… and that’s how we learned we had some scaling issues and this flavor was way too salty. But now that the trauma has subsided, we’re ready to bring it back. If you haven’t tried it, great! If you have… I promise it’s better now 😅
Restock at Of All Places this Friday! They’ll have an early release of Breakfast in Bed—plus Banana $tand.
Just for funzies, we made a few bags of Cinnamon Toast Crunch Toffee. Depending on the week, more might be released throughout the week and over the weekend. We’ll see!
